What do you do after recording a slew of hard rock albums that sold in excess of 50 million copies? You build yourself a really nice studio, of course. Here's Michael at WireWorld, next to his shiny new Euphonix MC Media Application Controller.

"It really speeds up the editing process," says Michael about the Euphonix MC. When you record as much as Michael Wagener does, speed along with quality is a key combination.

Michael Wagener was all of 13 years old when he made his first foray into the world of music by trying his rudimentary power chords along with another German kid named Udo Dirkshneider. Their teenage band soon turned into a heavy metal sucess story called Accept, but by then Michael had already moved on to the other side of the glass. By 1980, Michael accepted Don Dokken's invitation to move to the USA, where he became acquainted with other luminaries of the Eighties hard rock world, including associates of Guns 'n' Roses, Ratt, and others. After a time studying under the mentorship of such luminaries as Roy Thomas Baker, Wagener established his own production company (Double Trouble) and quickly became known as one of the top-level engineers in the field of rock.
Wagener's discography as an engineer and producer reads like a "Best Of" hard rock albums, and includes a selection of multiplatinum records like Mötley Crüe's Too Fast for Love, Dokken's Breaking the Chains and Tooth 'n Nail, Poison's Look What the Cat Dragged In, Metallica's Master of Puppets, Megadeth's So Far, So Good, So What?, Skid Row's self-titled debut, Extreme's Pornograffitti, Janet Jackson's Black Cat, and Ozzy Osbourne's No More Tears.
In 1996, Michael worked in Nashville and fell in love with Music City, USA. Relocating there from Los Angeles, Michael also saw the realization of his dream with the construction of WireWorld, Michael's world-class studio.
WireWorld Studio's New Addition: the Euphonix MC
With the recent relocation of WireWorld to a beautiful new facility on ten acres of lush, scenic country property just outside of Nashville, Wagener needed a control surface that would be compatible with multiple DAW applications while speeding up the workflow at his WireWorld studio. After consulting with GC Pro Account Manager Pepper Denny, Wagener chose the Euphonix MC Media Application Controller. Im really pleased with the overall design of the unit, stated Wagener. It really speeds up the editing process, which was also one of the bigger selling points, as it fits well into my workflow here in the studio. To top it off, its a really standout, nice looking controller. And with the support of my GC Pro team, it cant be beat, Wagener concludes.
WireWorld is a high-end facility equipped for tracking and mixing in a variety of formats, including 5.1 multichannel surround, which is supported by the MC. Additionally, the studio is packed with world-class gear from a variety of manufacturers including Empirical Labs, Manley, ADAM, Groove Tubes, Little Labs, TC Electronic, and more (see below for a comprehensive gear list). WireWorld also employs a slew of Macintosh and Windows-based PCs for audio, MIDI and video editing, making the choice of the flexible Euphonix MC all the more appropriate. The MC is a workstation control surface specially designed to increase workflow with any application with innovative application monitoring and instant recall.
